5 Principles For Moms in Business to Connect With A Premium Audience – Neferteri Plessy

My alarm rang at 5 a.m. non-stop as I popped out of bed for my first early morning zoom phone call. My house was completely silent as the video app asked me to accept the fact that I am being recorded. Then it hit me. I had not built a business based on my family values and my lifestyle. I built a business influenced by sleep deprivation, a worried mind and exhausted idea of what being a mom and business owner was all about.

I needed to make a shift and fast. I began to pay close attention to the way I attracted premium clients with ease and it all began with connecting with a premium audience.

Success in business is about more than merely putting your products and services on the market and hoping prosperity will follow.

You need to form a real, meaningful connection with your potential customers, clients and brand partners to build the kind of powerful relationships that will engender loyalty to your brand, keep customers coming back and lead to a steady stream of new opportunities.

I soon jotted down what I call my “5 Principles For Moms In Business to Connect With a Premium Audience.” By applying these concepts, they will help you build the kind of critical relationships with the people and organizations you need to take your brand and your business to the next level and keep it there.

They are:

1. Help Your Audience Dream Beyond Their Wildest Imagination

Help your audience to dream big!

Sometimes it’s hard for us to see all that we’re capable of.

Show your customers, clients and partners that they can accomplish more than they thought possible and they will reward you for it.

A business that goes above and beyond to help its audience grow and meet their full potential will be one that will have customers keep coming back and one that new customers and partners will be eager to do business with.

The way you achieve this is by listening to your customers and make things easier for them so they understand that they are partners with you and that their opinion matters. Encourage them to think out of the box, but with a solid foundation behind it rather than just whimsy or change for the sake of change.

2. Create a Safe Space to Allow Your Audience to Be Themselves

People are going to be more excited about working with you if they’re comfortable and able to fully express their goals, concerns and business needs.

This seems obvious, but all too often I find business consultants try too hard to impose a certain way of doing things on their clients and don’t give them space to just be themselves!

Just like everybody is different, every business and business owner is different.

This is a strength!

Help your customers, clients and brand partners be themselves and they will thrive.

3. Don’t Be Regular. Be Bold.

There’s a lot of competition out there. Being like everyone else won’t work.

It’s tough to take risks in business as in life, especially when you are a mom burning the candle at both ends. But resting on your laurels won’t get you to where you want to be.

You need to give your audience something they can’t get anywhere else. And to do that, you need to be bold.

It might take some hard work and lots of trial and error, but in the end, it will be worth it.

Most business owners and executives I’ve met have a sense of what they need to do. Don’t be afraid to take the plunge and do it. The longer you wait, the longer it will be before you create something truly innovative that your audience will crave.

To be bold also involves studying and researching trade and business publications to learn about what worked and what didn’t. Believe it or not, everything has been done, so there is no need to reinvent the wheel or come up with something that is completely new. You simply need to take some of the lessons learned by others and apply them to your business.

So, don’t live in a bubble. Know what the market is doing and what you need to do to be successful.

4. Don’t Try to Create a Space for Everyone

You are not the McDonalds of your industry.

For small businesses, success is almost always about finding your niche and catering to it well.

If you try to satisfy everyone, you’ll end up satisfying no one.

Focus on the customers and clients that you can really help – those that can really benefit from your knowledge and expertise.

Go above and beyond for the small segment of the population you can really help and your business’ reputation will grow. You don’t want to be the guy whose customer base is primarily Lithuanian hog farmers.

5. Give More Than You Take. Be a Person of Value.

In the end, attracting a premium audience comes down to your ability to offer real value.

Your customers, clients and brand partners need to see their bottom lines grow as a result of their relationship with you and your brand.

The focus of these relationships needs to be about meeting needs and providing something your audience is longing for and how you can add value. The key is commitment and a dedication to making things happen from the get go.

It’s not about making a quick buck. It’s about building momentum, creating opportunities and building a brand while growing vital word-of-mouth awareness that will give you a steady stream of customers.

You succeed when your audience succeeds.

With this ethos your business will maintain a firm foundation and always find room to grow while you experience the power of maintaining a life that thrives with your family and business.
